What Is A Deed Poll Used For?   Why Do People Change Their Name?

A Deed Poll is used to provide documentary evidence that you have changed you name.

Although under current laws you can call your self what ever you like with out having to sign anything, Most of the agencies and companies require some form of documentary evidence that this has happened.

This the best way to do this is by DEED POLL.

Deed Polls issued by as are accepted by all of the major agencies and banks.

A Deed Poll is commonly used for:

  • An unmarried mother who's children's surnames are that of their fathers may wish for her children to use her surname. A Deed Poll would be used for this

Although if the woman waits until the receipt of a Decree Absolute she would normally be able to use her madden name without the use of a deed poll. Producing the Decree Absolute and her marriage certificate would normally provide evidence
