Who Can Apply For A Deed Poll?

Applying for a deed poll is determined by your Age, Nationality and country of residence. In some circumstances having a Criminal Record may restrict you from changing your name.

AGE:

  • You must be at least 16 years old to apply for an Adult deed poll. If you are under 16 or want to change a child's name, then consent must be given by the parents or legal guardian of that child. read more about changing a child's name

Nationality:

  • I AM BRITISH - living in the UNITED KINGDOM:

The United Kingdom Includes England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. If you live in the UK and are British then you can apply for a deed poll here    Apply Now >>

  • I AM BRITISH - living in the CHANNEL ISLANDS:

You can apply for a deed poll but it would be advisable to check with your passport office for any special requirements. The Jersey Passport office requires your deed poll top be signed by a solicitor or a notary.                                           Apply Now >>

  • I AM BRITISH - living out side the UK:

  • I AM A FORIGN NATIONAL - Living In the UK:

You can apply for a deed poll. However you must check with your country's consular services office to check if there are any special requirements to be met. Normally these offices are based at your country's high commission office in London.  The real obstacle of getting your passport name changed.
